Solar Lantern 26cm - Black

Description

DescriptionThis is a solar lantern built as an open frame of black steel, 26cm tall, 16cm long and 16cm wide, with a wire carry handle looped over the top. Hanging at its centre is a clear plastic shade in the shape of a classic filament bulb, and inside it sits an integrated LED, so there is no separate bulb to buy or fit. A small solar panel on the top charges from daylight. No IP rating is given for it, so we cannot promise how it copes with rain, and we would keep it somewhere dry and under cover.
The light is 16 lumens at 3000K, a soft warm glow for atmosphere rather than light for reading or working. That makes it a good fit for a table, a shelf or a sideboard where you want a small point of light without a flame or a plug. Weighing 0.51KG, it is easy to lift by its handle and carry from one spot to another. Because it needs no wiring and no socket, it suits renters and anyone who wants a lantern they can set down and switch on without help.
The body is steel, a strong metal, finished in black, and the clear plastic shade lets you see the slim LED filament within it. Power comes from a single AA NiMH battery of 600mAh running at 1.2V, which the panel charges from daylight. An on/off switch lets you decide when it lights. As general guidance, a solar panel does best in an open, sunny spot, so give the top of the lantern plenty of daylight before the evening you want it lit.
