DescriptionA short outdoor post in matt black, squared off along its whole length and standing 80cm high on a slim 12cm footprint. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, which is plenty for a pool of light at knee height rather than a glare across the garden. There is no dimming on this one, so we would put in a warm white LED and let a switch do the work. Either a standard rounded bulb or a slim tubular type suits it.
Posts at this height do a particular job well: marking the edge of a path, flanking a set of steps, punctuating a border, or giving a front garden some light without the wash of a spotlight. It is rated for exposed positions and copes with rain and hose spray, so a driveway or an unsheltered corner of a patio is no trouble. We reach for it where a tall lantern-style post would look heavy against a small frontage, and a pair either side of a gate always reads better than one on its own.
The matt black keeps a flat, non reflective face in daylight, which stops the post looking glossy among planting. Grit, cobwebs and pollen settle on anything standing outdoors beside a path, so an occasional wipe with a damp cloth, then a dry one, keeps the finish even; let the lamp go cold first. It carries a two year warranty. The same Nevada design runs to wall lights in matt black, matt white and dark grey, along with a pedestal lamp in matt black if you want the shape lower to the ground. Lamps are not supplied.
