Blocchetto LED Cube Alabaster Table Lamp 12cm - Brass

Description

DescriptionBlocchetto is a solid cube of natural Spanish alabaster, 120mm on every face, lit from inside so the whole block glows rather than throwing light out of an opening. There is no shade, no stem and no visible metalwork; what sits on the table is a piece of stone with a light in it. The faces are left flat and the edges square, so the geometry stays deliberately plain and the interest comes entirely from what the stone does with the light.
An integrated LED draws 10W and sits within the block. Because alabaster is translucent rather than transparent, the light does not pass straight through: it scatters inside the stone and comes out as an even glow that is brightest where the block is thinnest. The veining reads as cloud rather than line, and it shifts depending on which face you are looking at, so the same lamp looks different from a sofa than it does from a doorway.
The lamp is cut from a single piece of natural Spanish alabaster with brass hardware concealed in the base, so the veining and translucency are unique to the block and no two are alike. At this size it is an accent: a bedside light, a shelf light or one of a pair on a console. Rated IP20 for interior use. Blocchetto also comes as a 150mm cube for a larger surface. The cable leaves from the underside, so on an open shelf the lamp can be turned to keep the lead out of sight.

Frequently AskedIs it solid stone?
Yes. It is cut from a single block of natural Spanish alabaster with the LED and its hardware housed inside, which is why there is no shade or stem and no metalwork on show.
Why does it glow rather than shine?
Alabaster is translucent rather than transparent, so light scatters inside the stone instead of passing straight through. The block reads as an even glow, brightest where the stone is thinnest.
Does every lamp look the same?
No. Each cube is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining and translucency are unique to the block, and the four faces of one cube will not match each other.
Is it bright enough to read by?
No. At 10W in a 120mm block it is an accent light for a bedside, a shelf or a console rather than a task light.
Can I replace the LED?
No. The LED is integrated rather than a separate lamp, so there is no bulb to change and none is supplied.
