Description
The Bao is a wall light with a single rounded matt white glass globe set into the lower third of a vertical black metal backplate. The backplate measures 310mm tall and 120mm wide with a rounded-top profile, and the 100mm glass globe protrudes approximately 60mm from the wall when fitted. A single G9 halogen or LED bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glass, which diffuses the light into a soft glow around the fitting.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedrooms and living rooms where wall-mounted task or accent lighting is needed without ceiling pendants, the Bao fits flush to the wall on a concealed backplate and casts light downwards and outwards from the globe. The compact 310mm height suits narrower wall sections between doorways or alongside mirrors. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only.

The black metal finish is a low-sheen powder coat that absorbs rather than reflects ambient light, allowing the white glass globe to become the visual focus when the light is on. The contrast between the dark metal and the illuminated glass works in both contemporary monochrome schemes and warmer interiors where the black acts as a grounding accent. The G9 fitting accepts bulbs up to 28W, giving flexibility to choose light output and colour temperature.

What bulb does the Bao take?

The fitting takes a G9 bulb up to 28W. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a G9 LED bulb between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for warm accent lighting in bedrooms and hallways.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or any location where it might be exposed to moisture or splashes.

How is the light directed?

The globe sits in the lower third of the vertical backplate, so most of the light is cast downwards and outwards from the fitting. The matt white glass diffuses the light rather than projecting a focused beam, creating a soft ambient glow around the wall.

What height should it be mounted?

Typical mounting height is 1500-1700mm from floor to centre of the fitting for hallway and bedroom use. This places the light at head height for ambient effect without glare. Adjust higher or lower depending on the specific application and ceiling height.
