Flenane Cage Ceiling Light 28cm - Black

Description

DescriptionThe Flenane is a compact ceiling light in black steel, with a domed cage shade made from curved strips that sits close to the ceiling on a round black base. It measures 18cm high and 28cm across, so it keeps a low profile without leaving the room feeling bare. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, which is not included, so you choose the colour and warmth of the light yourself. It carries an IP20 rating, which means it belongs indoors in dry rooms rather than bathrooms or anywhere outdoors.
Because it fits flush rather than hanging on a cord, we think it earns its place in hallways, landings and bedrooms, and anywhere the ceiling is on the low side and a pendant would get in the way. With a bulb lit, the gaps between the strips let light spill out across the ceiling in a fan of soft rays, so a plain hallway gains a little character after dark. The open cage also leaves the bulb on show, which makes it a good partner for a decorative bulb with a visible filament. The black finish sits comfortably against white or grey ceilings and works alongside other black metal pieces, such as picture frames, door handles and shelving.
The body is steel with a black finish, and there is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it answers to the light switch you already use. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, which matches UK mains. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. The packed weight is 1.227KG. When you choose a bulb, keep to an E27 cap at no more than 40W, and a warm white bulb gives the softest glow through the strips.

Frequently AskedCan I fit the Flenane in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which suits indoor rooms that stay dry, so we would keep it out of bathrooms and never fit it outdoors.
Which bulb does this ceiling light take?
It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W. The bulb is not included, so you can pick the colour of light and the style you prefer.
How big is the light?
It is 18cm high and 28cm across, so it sits close to the ceiling and suits rooms where a hanging pendant would feel too low.
Does it have its own switch?
No, there is no switch on the light. It is switched at the wall, so you control it with your existing light switch.
What material is the Flenane?
The body is steel in a black finish, and the shade is an open dome of curved strips that leaves the bulb on show and lets light spill across the ceiling.
