Saceda Ceiling Light - Black & Gold

Description

DescriptionThe Saceda is a ceiling light with a sweeping, wave-shaped steel shade that curves around the bulb like the brim of a hat. The upper face and the round ceiling plate are black, while the underside is lined with gold leaf, its crinkled, hammered texture catching the light and throwing a warm glow back into the room. It measures 41cm long, 34cm wide and 16cm high, and it sits close to the ceiling instead of hanging down on a cord. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of warmth and style to you. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.
Because the gold lining faces downwards, this ceiling light suits rooms where the underside is in view: a dining room, a living room, a bedroom or a hallway. The black shell keeps it crisp against a pale ceiling, and the gold comes alive once the bulb is lit, so it reads as a quiet dark shape by day and a golden one in the evening. The low profile makes it a good choice where a long pendant would crowd a table or a bed, and as the bulb sits on show beneath the curve, a decorative globe bulb is worth choosing with care.
The body is steel, and the shade is held to the round ceiling plate by a short black stem. There is no switch on the light itself, because it is switched at the wall, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. Because it is wired into the mains, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Packed, it weighs 1.854KG. When choosing a bulb, pick one with an E27 cap rated no higher than 40W, since none comes in the box.
