Object Pendant Light 16cm - Grey

Description

Description
Object is a pendant in grey. A dark grey shade built in two steps: a short narrow cylinder at the top, then a sharp shoulder out to a wider straight-sided skirt that runs down to an open rim. The step between the two is a hard edge rather than a curve, which is what gives the shade its blocky outline. The inside is white and the rim is left open, so the light comes out as a clean disc below. A black flex runs straight into the top of the cylinder with no visible cap. The grey is a deep matt, almost black in shadow. It measures 16cm across.

A shade this small works better in a run of two or three over an island than alone in the middle of a ceiling, where it reads as an accent rather than the main light. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.

The holder is E27 and takes up to 40W. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

Frequently Asked
Which bulb does it take?
An E27 lamp up to 40W. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?
Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

How high should it hang above a dining table?
About 80cm from the table top to the bottom of the shade. Go higher over an island people walk past, and lower over a table nobody passes beneath.

Can it go in a bathroom?
No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
